Each year, a collaborative team of 30-50 bat biologists meets for an annual "Batathon" near the remote village of Indian Church, Belize to study the bats of this dry forest ecosystem. In addition to collecting tons of data, we work closely with the Belizean Ministry of Forestry and the Lamanai Field Research Center to help understand and protect this habitat, which is dotted with ancient Maya ruins, including the 3,000 year old cities of Lamanai and Ka'kabish.
